Neil McCarthy is a qualified and practising Social Worker, first registered in 1996. With more than 30 years’ experience, he is highly trained in safeguarding (Level 5) and trauma-informed practice. Neil currently works at Director level within the private sector and brings extensive professional safeguarding expertise into our martial arts environment.

The UK Kung Fu School is a registered member of BMABA CIC, who serve as our independent Safeguarding Governing Body.

Neil is committed to ongoing professional development in social work, safeguarding, and martial arts—both inside and outside the training hall. His priority is ensuring a safe, supportive training environment for children and adults alike. To uphold the highest standards of coaching, he has completed extensive safeguarding and professional training, including:
- Level One Instructor Coaching
- Level Two Instructor Coaching
- First Aid
- Trauma informed coaching
- Knife Crime and serious youth violence
- SENDCO – for martial art coaches
- Mental Health First Aid for martial arts instructors
- Concussion & Head Injury Management In Martial Arts (CHIMA)
- Level Two coach and has a Silver coaching award by the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts
